A new year of running

I started 2017 on the right foot -- at the Resolution Run 4 Miler.
I've run the Atlanta Track Club's Resolution Run for several years now and I just love it, because it starts my year, and running year, off right! This year it was cool and rainy, but thankfully the rain tapered off after the first mile and there was just a light drizzle/mist for the final three miles.

Coming in toward the finish
I was supposed to run the race with my friend Angela, but she was running late, so we didn't catch up with each other until after the race. In fact, we almost missed each other, but I found out she had been waiting for me at the finish and I must have walked right past her. In my defense, I did tell her at the end of the race, my brain did not have dibs on my blood supply. Ha!
The race turned out to be profitable, too. I found two pennies along the route. Back to collecting found money in 2017!
All finished!

Cute fellow runners getting into the new year spirit

We found each other!
It may not look it, but I was a little tired at the start (and finish!) of the race. I had gone to bed early knowing I would be up early for the race, but my neighbors had other ideas and were shooting off fireworks and, I think, guns at midnight. Not very conducive to sleep. So I got up and signed up for a half marathon in Indianapolis at the early bird rate! I guess it was meant for me to be up to ring in the new year.
So I have the three half marathons and states I plan for 2017: Alaska, South Dakota and Indiana. I expect one or two other states, but those will just be 5Ks. Still, it will be a great new year of running.

A chilly, hilly resolution

Atlanta's unseasonably warm weather decided to leave just as I'm ready to return to running.
So this morning's Resolution Run 4 miler was sunny and crisp. The race is in Brookhaven and it was kind of fun to see some of the areas I usually drive right by.
Here I am before the race, even wearing that Ugly Sweater Run hat, which I actually needed today!

I looked for found money during my walk breaks, but didn't find any. I counted up all of my found money for 2015 last night. I earned $3.09, just enough for a small coffee at Starbucks. :)
At the end of the race, I went to the area that asked you to share your resolution. I put down to run four more states in 2016. You can barely see it in the photo!

It doesn't matter. It's a resolution I very much hope to keep. Happy New Year!

Onward to 2015!

What a wonderful New Year's day.
Woke up to cold, but sunny, weather, perfect for this morning's Resolution Run, sponsored by the Atlanta Track Club.
In years past, this race was held up in Kennesaw, Ga., and offered a 5K or a double loop 10K.
But the staging area had changed ownership, so this year the race was changed to Brookhaven, Ga., which is closer to my house. The time was changed, and it was now a 4 miler.
All in all, a great race. Not my best time for a 4 miler: 51:39, but since I had taken 2 1/2 weeks off to give the body a break, I was pleased. I was hoping for around 50 minutes, but that's OK.
My right foot is still giving me some trouble, but now not thinking it's a stress fracture, but plantar fasciitis. I actually chatted with a runner at the starting line who was nursing a stress fracture. I asked her what it felt like and when I described my issue, she immediately said PF.
So, I got home and iced my arch down and it felt much better. That wouldn't have happened with a stress fracture. I need to keep icing it down and stretching my legs. I think I'll survive!
Didn't find any cash on this run, so the found money pig will be a little hungry into the new year.
I'm hungry!
So, onward to 2015! Here's to a great year of running ahead.
